Herbstrith, Mark
1970 R/T Clone

11/21/2010

"Car started out as a very rusty '72 rolling chassis. (orig 318). I purchased the shell in 1992 with intentions of building a bracket car. From '92 thru '97 I bought most of the metal (excellent used) needed to replace the rusted original pieces. Fortunately the roof and window channels were in good condition, otherwise the crusher would have been fed!"

"I started the body work in '97 and during the process decided to build a good street car (1970 R/T clone) because I already have a trailer queen show car and wanted something to cruise with. As can be seen from the "before/after" photo the work was extensive. Probably 80% of the original metal was replaced. I performed all of the work myself with exception of the vinyl top and of course the engine."

"The car performs exactly as I was hoping. I really hit the bullseye by coming to Hughes. Much more enjoyable to be driving than towing."
